Man City boss Hughes planning bid for Spurs winger Bentley

Manchester City are ready to launch a January push for Tottenham winger David Bentley.

The People says Tottenham's £12.5million valuation of Bentley is too steep even for City. But Eastlands sources suggest City boss Mark Hughes is keen to complete a deal after having reservations about Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The 28-year-old, in his second spell at City, is an erratic performer.

Bentley was with Hughes at Blackburn and would jump at a fresh start.
