Manchester City boss Mark Hughes says there's no chance of a football director being installed by the club's new owners.
The Welshman is not under threat, either from a replacement or a dreaded director of football, the concept of which has caused such disharmony at Newcastle and West Ham.
"No. No. No. That won't happen," said Hughes, when quizzed directly about the possibility of someone coming in over his head, as Dennis Wise did in Kevin Keegan's case at St James' Park.
"I view myself as an asset to this club and the new people have recognised that.
"I am the best person to be in charge of this club and move it forward. You need someone with the energy and motivation to drive the big project forward. I can do that."
