Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has told the club's supporters to get ready for a strong run in the Champions League.
City disposed of Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, prompting Guardiola to suggest this is where the club truly belongs and asking the fans to get on board after a crowd of just over 30,000 turned up.
"It's a good moment to enjoy our football with our fans. That is our future in the Champions League," said the Spaniard in the wake of Sergio Aguero's hat-trick and Kelechi Iheanacho's late goal.
"The fans have to know we play for them. It's our job.
"We need them in the Champions League to beat the best teams in the world. We cannot make something good in the Champions League in the coming years without them."
The reduced crowd size was impacted by the fact the match had been rescheduled from Tuesday night after torrential rain affected the playing surface and surrounding areas at the Etihad.
