Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed contract talks with Fernandinho.
The Brazilian international becomes a free agent at the end of the season and is still to agree terms.
Talks have been allowed to drag on, with Guardiola eager to have the midfielder's future resolved.
City are also in talks over improved terms for Gabriel Jesus and Guardiola said: “The transfer market has finished, but clubs are always updating and working.
“Of course there are players I think the club want to renew.
“One, of course, is Fernandinho. And the other ones.
“The club never stops. It doesn't end on September 1.
“It's always every day, looking at the situation and the future, the short-term and the long-term."
