Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola regrets playing Vincent Kompany in their EFL Cup win at Swansea City last week.
Kompany sustained a groin injury at Swansea and walked straight off the pitch in added time, leaving City to defend a 2-1 lead with only 10 men.
"Yes, maybe, now I would like to play him for 85 (minutes)," said the City boss, adding that Kompany had been told to let the bench know if he had any problems.
"He knew that. We spoke with him and said if you don't feel so comfortable, or tired and we will take a decision – enough.
"I saw him in the last 15 minutes looking quite well. I didn't ask him, he always wants to play and doesn't want to leave during the game.
"But sometimes it's a good to take those decisions."
