Man City boss Guardiola on Dutch crisis: Believe in your philosophy

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he's a big fan of the traditions of Dutch football.

Guardiola grew up admiring Barca and Dutch great Johan Cruyff.

He told Ziggo Sport: "It's about philosophy, I was surrounded by Johan Crujff and Louis van Gaal, and I'm very much influenced by Dutch football.

"How we want to play, the positions, the replay ... Everyone has to understand why they play in a certain way, it has to be attractive to the fans, so I will always be grateful for your culture."

On the current crisis in the Dutch game, Guardiola added: "I do not know what's going wrong in Dutch football, I'm not there, but if you keep believing in it, you'll come back."

He also supports the appointment of Ronald Koeman as Oranje coach.

"He knows best how to let his players play, I'm sure it will get better, Ronald will get the best out of the young players."
