Man City boss Guardiola hints at Foden debut against Feyenoord

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted he may start Phil Foden against Feyenoord on Tuesday night.

The 17-year-old came to prominence on City's pre-season tour of the United States. More recently, after England's U17 World Cup success, Foden was awarded with the Golden Ball, which is given to the tournament's best player.

The Stockport-born lad has yet to make a competitive appearance for the first team, but Guardiola has suggested he is ready to make the step up.

"Phil Foden is ready to start a game. Brahim as well," said Guardiola.

"They would not be training with us otherwise. The skills are there. The quality is there. We can help them with the speed - they have reduced time to make decisions because everything is quicker.

"They have to be ready because sometimes, the manager will make a surprise."
