The list of great wingers who have worn the Manchester City kit is very long, and now Leroy Sane is joining those greats with every passing performance.

The young winger is showing the kind of form that convinced City to pay big money for him last summer. His manager Pep Guardiola is delighted with his form, and he spoke about the impact Sane had on the team in the recent 3-1 win against Newcastle United at home.

Sane played a pivotal role in the game, especially when Newcastle were threatening to get an equalizer at 2-1. Guardiola was over the moon with his performance.

"We spoke in the [pre-match] meeting that against teams who defend so well we need players to take a risk and be aggressive towards them," said the City manager.

"Those who have the ability to dribble, should dribble. And those with the ability to shoot, should shoot.

"The game was 2-1 and open and Leroy decided 'I go and make an amazing action'. It is complicated to attack 11 players when they defend so deep and they can hit you on the counter-attack. But we are learning how to do it.

"Leroy suffered in the first six months of last season but this season he is playing at a high, high level.

"But I don't want to say too many nice words about him because I have a feeling he has a lot of things to improve."
