Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has shed light on his decision to replace Raheem Sterling with Wilfried Bony during the 3-0 loss to Liverpool on Wednesday.
With his side 2-0 down at half-time against Liverpool, Pellegrini decided to haul off winger Sterling and introduced striker Bony after the break.
The change did not have much impact on the game as City went on to lose 3-0 and Pellegrini has now gone on to explain why he made the change.
He said: "I wanted to play with another striker inside the box.
"We were not creating many chances in the first half and were losing 2-0. I tried to play Bony alongside Kun (Sergio Aguero) but we didn't improve."
