PSV's Peru striker Jefferson Farfan and CSKA's Brazil international Vagner Love are both high on Eriksson's shopping list.
At 23-years-old Farfan comfortably fits the identikit player Eriksson is looking for. It is club policy to buy only those on the upgrade or at their peak - not at the end of their careers no matter how distinguished.
Love, also 23, would be an easier deal for City than compatriot Afonso Alves, the Heerenveen striker, as he is a regular with Brazil squad and qualifies for a work permit.
