Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has told Elano to buck up his ideas if he wants to succeed in England.

Eriksson substituted Elano at half-time of Sunday's FA Cup defeat at Sheffield United because he was in danger of being sent off.

The Brazilian, 26, was furious at United's physical tactics and was involved in bitter feuds with Gary Speed and Leigh Bromby.

He said: "Gary Speed is clever. He's been around for a long time but he's not to blame.

"Elano has to learn that life in England is like this. No one will just let him do what he likes."
