Man City boss Eriksson seeks Thaksin transfer cash talks

Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is seeking transfer budget talks with chairman Thaksin Shinawatra.

The Sun says the Swede spent £38million of the former Thai Prime Minister's money on eight players last summer.

But he was frustrated in the January transfer window, only landing Benjani late on from Portsmouth for £4.8million.

Now he wants assurances from Shinawatra that there will be big money to spend this summer.

Eriksson believes that with the right additions he can push City into the top four on a regular basis.

He is even more ambitious following his side's 2-1 win at Manchester United on Sunday which sealed the double over their local rivals.

Shinawatra took over City last summer but immediately had half of his fortune - £1bn - frozen by a military coup in his country.

Eriksson wants to ensure that will not stop his summer building plans.
