Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson stands by his decision to take Arsenal teenager Theo Walcott to the World Cup last year with England.

"I don't regret taking him to Germany but I regret that he couldn't play because he was in good shape," said Eriksson.

"He has great pace and is still in good shape. I don't think that the alternatives to Walcott at the time would have changed anything in the World Cup."
