Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has played down reports that the club are chasing Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

He told Sky Sports News that there are "several players we are working on" and the Swede believes they can bring them in during the window.

But when asked about reports about a scout watching Ajax striker Huntelaar in last weekend's game against AZ Alkmaar, in which the striker netted a brace in the 6-1 victory, he said: "Maybe, but I don't think we looked at that player. Maybe, I don't know."

When asked if he might have had someone at the game but it might not necessary have been to watch that player, he joked: "Exactly, good!" but would not be drawn on the possible target.
