Man City boss Eriksson allays Petrov concerns

Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has moved to allay fitness concerns for star midfielder Martin Petrov.

The Blues winger was reported to have taken a heavy knock in a practice match against Lokomotiv Sofia last week.

"There's been a bit of confusion," Eriksson told City's website, "because I had two phone calls from people saying that he was badly injured. The club doctor and myself tried to reach him, and I eventually got his Bulgarian mobile number on Saturday.

"I spoke to him and asked what was going on, and he told me it's nothing. He says that he got a knock but that he's going to play on Wednesday. It's nothing, I don't know where it came from that he was badly injured, because he's not."
