Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has defended the departure of Rolando Bianchi on-loan to Lazio.
Eriksson said: "We bought eight players in the summer and seven of them have settled in well. Bianchi had more difficulties.
"Before he came here he was on the verge of going into the international team. His dream is to be involved with Italy in the European Championships and to do that he has to play."
Eriksson dismissed the notion that one of the key reasons behind Bianchi's departure was English food.
The Swede said: "The only way he didn't settle in was with the football. I think he liked it here and all the boys liked him. I think he struggled a little bit with the way we played."
