Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has backed Sergio Aguero to win the Premier League's Golden Boot this season.

The Chilean manager believes that Aguero, who has scored 21 league goals this season, could overtake the likes of Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane by the end of the season.

Kane is currently leading the goalscoring charts with 24 goals while Vardy has scored 22.

Ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Newcastle United, Pellegrini said: "He has scored an important amount of goals so he is fighting to be the top scorer in this year also.

"The way that he is playing, especially the last game, I am sure that it will be difficult for the other strikers to keep up with his performances."
