Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak says the board is delighted with the quality of signings made by manager Mark Hughes.

He said: "We've embarked on this very challenging acquisition initiative this summer and I think now, looking back, every addition has been a solid addition. That's exactly what we had in mind and I'm very confident we will get value for money."

Speaking to the club's official website, Mubarak also replied to those who have decried City for "buying success".

"It doesn't faze me, Mark Hughes or anyone in our leadership team and we are actually looking forward to proving to everyone we can do it in the right way, which we believe we've been doing."
