Manchester City are pushing to sign Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

The Manchester Evening News says City still need a new front man as a priority, and Napoli have dug in their heels over the sale of Cavani, for whom they want the full release clause of £54m.

Edin Dzeko is understood to have been proffered as part of the deal, but Napoli want to extract as much as they can for their star striker.

With Juventus poised to move for Carlos Tevez, City will consider no bids for any of their current strikers until they have a replacement in the bag.
