Scott Sellars has been axed as academy chief at Manchester City.

The Daily Mail says in a difference of footballing opinion with the current regime, led by sporting director Txiki Begiristain, Sellars has had his employment terminated.

The club will now begin the search for a new man to fill the role vacated by Sellars ahead of next season.

City are pumping significant funds into their academy set-up to ensure they can produce their own talent in years to come.
