With doubts over the ownership of CSKA Moscow striker Jo, Manchester City have assured the Premier League no player will be brought into the club who has third-party ownership issues.
City chief Garry Cook told the club's official website: "Jo is a player who interests us and we are currently in discussions with CSKA Moscow and his representatives. We are hopeful of progress.
"We are keeping in contact with the Premier League on the issue.
"Manchester City is fully aware of the rules regarding third party ownership of players and any transfers will be completed to Premier League regulations."
