Manchester City have joined their Premier League rivals Everton in partnering with The R&A, the organisers of golf's Open Championship, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
The partnership will see pair team up on promotional activities and create exclusive content in the run-up to this year's Open, which takes place at Royal Birkdale in July.
To launch the partnership, Spanish golfer José Maria Olazábal hosted skills challenges ahead of City's match against Liverpool earlier this month, while the former Masters champion also visited the City Football Academy where he met with members of the club, including manager Pep Guardiola.
In the coming weeks, the Claret Jug, awarded to winners of the Open, will go on display at the Manchester City store and Hospitality Golf Day.
"Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world and The Open is one of the world's greatest sporting events," said Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, the executive director, championships at The R&A.
"We are looking forward to working with Manchester City to help promote the Championship ahead of its return to the historic links at Royal Birkdale for the tenth time."
The City tie-up follows a similar partnership forged between The R&A and Everton last month.
