Manchester City are willing to make Napoli star Edinson Cavani the highest paid player in England. The Daily Mail says City are prepared to make Cavani the best-paid player in England, with a staggering £13.3million-per-year deal close to being agreed.
But City will have to battle it out with Real Madrid, who are fast emerging as their main rivals for the Napoli forward.
City have made significant progress with their attempts to land the Uruguay frontman after weeks of talks with the player's representatives.
And it is understood a deal regarding Cavani's personal terms is near to being finalised, with the package -including incentives and commercial bonuses - worth a massive £256,000 per week. The deal would eclipse that of City striker Carlos Tevez and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, who both earn in the region of £250,000 per week.
