Man City ace Yaya Toure heads shortlist for BBC African Player of the Year

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been nominated for the BBC African Player of the Year award.

The four time African Player of the Year has made it on the five-man shortlist for the BBC award, which he has won once before in 2013.

Also nominated are Swansea's Andre Ayew and Southampton's Sadio Mane, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Yacine Brahimi complete the shortlist.

Toure said: “For me I feel like a lucky guy. When I go home and my kids or my friends ask me about the trophies, like the BBC African Footballer Year in 2013 it makes me feel very special and proud.

“Because when I was a kid I worked so hard, all my mentality was to be a winning guy. My mentality was always about winning things. Working hard to win trophies and collect trophies."
