When he left the Nou Camp, some accused him of going to City only for the money. A four-year deal worth more than £200,000 a week certainly ensures he will never go back to the poverty he experienced growing up in Abidjan on the Ivory Coast, but Toure insists he made the right choice.
"Definitely," he said. "As soon as I moved to City I was always talking about coming here to win something. A lot of people criticised me, thinking I had come for something else, but now I think since 2011 I've won a few trophies now.
"I don't have anything to prove. I won a lot of trophies at Barcelona and I think it was the right time to move on. I couldn't have done anything more there."
