A man appeared in court on Monday accused of assaulting Celtic star Scott Brown. The 24 year old Scotland international was on a night out in Edinburgh over the weekend when the alleged attack took place.

Mark Richardson, 22, faced one charge of assault to injury and another of breaching the peace when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Richardson, from Edinburgh, formally entered pleas of not guilty to the allegations and he was released on bail.

Trial was set for May next year.
