Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is heading to South Africa to check on Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela.

Mphela has claimed he was invited for trials by Birmingham earlier this year.

Mphela, top-scorer in the South Africa league this season with 17 goals for Mamelodi Sundowns, netted the only goal in his country's victory over Denmark in a warm-up match for the finals on Saturday.
