Malouda confident Mata not at Chelsea to replace him

Florent Malouda is confident he has a future at Chelsea, despite the arrival of Juan Mata.

Mata has taken the slot on the left of the attack in the last two matches yet Malouda still made the line-up in the Champions League this week when he played deeper in midfield.

"I arrived in 2007 and when you look at the names and the people who have arrived at this club, there has always been competition, there is nothing new in it," he told Chelsea TV.

"There was Yury Zhirkov and there was Joe Cole, we have always had big players and it is the way for a player to give his best for the team.

"If you are sure you have your place you will not compete and you will not come in every day to training to improve. Having this quality is setting a level to which you perform.

"So it is not really a problem and the way Juan is playing is really good for the forward players because he really has a good touch."
