Kalifa Cisse has signed a contract with Derby County which will keep him at the club until the middle of January.
The 29-year old Malian midfielder joined the Rams on non-contract terms earlier this month but after making an impressive debut last weekend, has been signed to a short-term deal by manager Steve McClaren.
The former Boavista, Reading, Bristol City and New England Revolution man will now stay at Pride Park for the hectic Christmas and New Year period which has delighted first team coach Paul Simpson.
"Kalifa did well against Sheffield Wednesday and it's pleasing that he will be sticking around for a bit longer," he told the club's official website.
"Hopefully he can carry on where he left off as well because he was certainly effective for us in the role he played on his debut."
