Alberto Malesani has been named new coach of Genoa.

Malesani kept Bologna in Serie A last season, but fell out with management.

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi opted not to renew Davide Ballardini's contract after he replaced Gian Piero Gasperini mid-season.

Malesani has put pen to paper on a contract tying him to the Grifone until June 30, 2013.
