Steed Malbranque is delighted with his first season at Sunderland - though would like to improve his scoring record.
"I didn't set myself a target for the season but I would like to score more," the former Tottenham midfielder said. "It's been a while since I last scored and I need to improve on it."
Malbranque has played most of his games for Sunderland on the right side of midfield, but he says his best position is in the 'hole' behind the strikers.
"I like to play behind one or two strikers but on the right or the left I'm comfortable as well. The manager decides where I play and I give my best."
Malbranque says he is happy with life at Sunderland under Ricky Sbragia.
"I feel good and I'm happy to be here," he told safc.com. "I'm really focused on this season and it's very important we stay in the Premier League. We're in a good position but we need to keep going."
