Malaga are set to sign Martin Demichelis from Espanyol.

The former Manchester City defender has negotiated a release from his contract at Espanyol this month.

Malaga are now wrapping up a deal for Demichelis this week.

The stopper had also been in talks with new MLS franchise Atlanta United, but his preference was to remain in Europe.

Demichelis left City for Espanyol last summer.
