Claude Makelele has signed a new contract with Chelsea.

The Sun says the France international has agreed a one-year extension to his current contract, worth £4million.

Assistant boss Steve Clarke said: "I never once heard Maka say he wanted to go.

"He's been a great player for us and has an important part to play here."
