Makela intent on helping Sydney FC win trophies

Sydney FC recruit Juho Makela is only focused on one thing at the moment...helping his new club achieve success.

The 27-year old Finnish striker joined the Sky Blues early in the New Year and has made an immediate impact, scoring once in his two substitute appearances.

Makela arrived at Sydney from homeland HJK Helsinki, where had a formidable scoring record, and he plans to continue that form with the reigning champions, who currently sit ninth of 11 on the league table.

"I know the team can turn it around," he told Australian Football Weekly.

"It's only a matter of time. I hope I can help by scoring goals. I have a good sense for goal scoring, to be in the right place at the right time.

"I've always scored goals at every club I've been at."

Makela has been capped by the Finland national team on seven occasions, his last coming in May last year, and although he has plans to again don the blue and white of his national team, he simply wants to win trophies in Australia.

"I'm not satisfied with my international career," he added. "[Getting a recall] is still possible, but that's not my main priority now.

"I want to win something [with Sydney]. I want to win trophies."
