Mainz defender Park: I'll never forget Freiburg win

FSV Mainz defender Park Joo-ho insists he will never forget the day he scored his first German Bundesliga goal.

The 27-year old left-back saw a well-struck long range effort beat SC Freiburg goalkeeper Oliver Baumann in the 24th minute on February 1 to record his debut goal in the German top flight for the club he joined in the summer from FC Basel.

Park, who was joined on the scoresheet by national teammate Koo Ja-cheol in the 2-0 win that day, said it was brilliant to be a part of the growing amount of South Koreans in the Bundesliga.

"We Koreans had some good compatriots who paved the way for us in the Bundesliga," he told Bundesliga.com.

"Bum-kun Cha is the first one I'd mention. We are really grateful to those terrific players."

Park also suggested that scoring in the same game as Koo in front of the Mainz faithful was a memorable day for him.

"That's a day I'll never forget for the rest of my life," he added.

"We two Koreans scored the goals that won the match and the team and the whole stadium were thrilled for us. Simply unforgettable."
