Mainz chief Rouven Schroeder is delighted with their swoop for Stoke City attacker Bojan Krkic.

The Spaniard has signed for Mainz on-loan to the end of the season. He arrives as a replacement for new Wolfsburg signing Yunus Malli.

"Bojan had been on the market for us for a short time, we have been very intense on him," said Schroeder.

"We are proud, because he is not normally a player in our category."

Bojan stated: "It is an honor for me that Mainz 05 gives me the opportunity to prove myself in another top European league. I look forward to meeting the team as well as the fans and to help the 05ers soon on the pitch."
