Wolves striker Stefan Maierhofer is set to return to Molineux this summer after Duisburg decided against signing the giant striker.
The Austria international has just completed a season-long loan at Duisburg, but the German club are not willing to pay the £1.3million fee for Maierhofer's services.
Duisburg sporting director Bruno Hubner said: "The contract will not be extended further.
"MSV Duisburg cannot pay the release clause."
