Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez was ardent in his opinion that Sergio Ramos will stay at the club.
The 29-year-old Spain international is the subject of constant interest from Premier League giants Manchester United but according to his manager, there will be no move out the Santiago Bernabeu exit door for Los Blancos' captain.
"And the update about Sergio Ramos is that he is our player and he is a key player for us," Benitez told reporters in Melbourne.
"He's the captain and I would like to see him at the beginning of the season. He will be crucial for us during the season."
United boss Louis van Gaal commented this week that Ramos could be 'in the process' of a transfer to Old Trafford but Benitez has deflected that speculation, insisting that the central defender will be staying put in the Spanish capital.
"Yes, for me, 100%. It is clear for both me and for the club that Sergio will be here," he added.
"I have a lot of respect for van Gaal but Sergio will stay with us.
"Football is a curious world but he will be staying with us this season."
