Madrid continue mobile rights deal for China

Real Madrid have extended their agreement with WiseKey, the company which in 2011 acquired the exclusive distribution rights to the club's mobile content in China, reports SportsPro. Under the new deal, which runs until the end of the current 2012/13 season, WiseKey and its Chinese partners will continue to work on monetising the Real Madrid brand by distributing and marketing the club's mobile content, including news, pictures and videos, in China.

WiseKey, which is headquartered in Geneva, estimates there to be 150 million Real Madrid fans in China, the world's largest mobile communications market.

"We are delighted to be partnering with WiseKey to boost the club's presence and strengthen our popularity in China," said Rafael de Los Santos, Real Madrid's new media business director.

"Real Madrid fans can find us in nearly every corner of the world thanks to our dynamic licensing model, which now includes the Chinese market thanks to WiseKey."

Carlos Moreira, founder and chief executive of WiseKey, added: "WiseKey is delighted to renew its contract with Real Madrid and continue our work with the club to provide the Chinese community of Real Madrid fans with the mobile content they want."
