Mackay won't quit as Cardiff replace transfer guru Moody with 23yo kid

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay won't consider walking away, despite the shock decision to replace head of recruitment Iain Moody with a 23-year-old friend of owner Vincent Tan's son.

Cardiff are in turmoil this morning after owner Tan replaced Mackay's right-hand man - responsible for bringing 25 players to the club - with a young Kazakhstani who was painting walls at the stadium until three months ago, says the Daily Mail.

Alisher Apsalyamov has absolutely no experience of football and attended the same Swiss finishing school as Tan's own son.

It is understood, though, that although Mackay - a hero in the Wales capital - is devastated by the developments of the last 24 hours, he has no intention of walking away and intends to be in charge of Cardiff when they place their next game at Chelsea on October 19.

Moody's sensational summer deals:

Gary Medel (Sevilla, £11m),

Steven Caulker (Tottenham, £9m),

Andreas Cornelius (FC Copenhagen, £8.5m),

Kevin Theophile-Catherine (Rennes, £2.1m)
