Mackay backing Solskjaer for Cardiff success

Malky Mackay believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a great appointment for Cardiff City.

Mackay was controversially sacked by the Bluebirds last month following a long-standing dispute with club owner Vincent Tan.

"I think it's a great job for him, coming from Norwegian football into the Premier League and into the club that has got the structure it has," Mackay said on Match of the Day.

"There's a lot of good staff that work at that football club.

"He's got a decent training ground, 30,000 people (who) want to come to the games every week and a team that are absolutely competitive and going to have a chance of staying up.

"I think he's a decent appointment because he's done well. He's been in the Premier League and he's done well in Norway.

But he added: "It's going to be different and there's a culture shock to it as well."
