Lou Macari did not stop short of heaping adulation on Henrikh Mkhitaryan on Thursday night.
The Armenian is quickly becoming a fan favourite at Manchester United after a slow start to life in England but again did the job as the Red Devils defeated Zorya 2-0 in Odessa.
Mkhitaryan scored a fine individual goal in the 48th minute, nutmegging Rafael Forster, before slotting beyond Igor Levchenko and his piece of magic left a great impression on former United midfielder Macari.
"He did what we know he can do," he said on MUTV.
"Got up a head of steam, made his way forward, he was looking to take on that last defender, went through his legs, and finished with the goalkeeper, as cool as you like, into the back of the net.
"We just needed that at that time and from then on, it was just going to be a match where we played out the rest of the game.
"I couldn't see that home side getting a goal. They lacked a few ideas.
"But the first goal was so vital, and we got it, and we've coasted into the next round."
