Former Tottenham captain Gary Mabbutt believes a long FA Cup run will benefit Harry Redknapp's relegation battle.

He told the Daily Star: "The FA Cup has always had a special place at White Hart Lane - it's part of the club's tradition.

"The Premier League will always be the main focus and that's why Harry was brought in, but all the cup competitions are important.

"Tottenham have a lot of matches coming up in the Premier League, in the Cup, in the UEFA Cup and the Carling Cup semi-final against Burnley as well.

"But the more games you have, the more success you have. Spurs shouldn't be frightened of that."
