Maarten Stekelenburg is delighted with his move to Southampton.
The Dutch goalkeeper has joined Saints on-loan from Fulham and hopes for a fresh start after a poor spell with AS Monaco.
"This is a great opportunity to show myself again," said the former Ajax player to NIS. "The goal is to get back into the Dutch national team."
Stekelenburg has 54 caps with the Oranje, but for a while has no longer been in the picture.
"In recent years, it was logical that I was not eligible," said Stekelenburg to Voetbal International. "I have simply played too few games. But I want to return to the Dutch national team. That's my ambition and Southampton can increase my chances of this a lot."
