Lyon striker Mariano Diaz: If Zidane had asked me, I'd have stayed with Real Madrid

Olympique Lyon striker Mariano Diaz says he would've stayed with Real Madrid if coach Zinedine Zidane had wanted him to.

Mariano is starring for OL this season as Real struggle for goals.

"I asked Zidane for advice and he told me that it was best to leave, with the departure of Lacazette at the Lyon ... If he had told me to stay, I would surely have listened to him," said the striker.

"I am very happy with how things are going at the team level and on a personal level. I expected to put all my effort into having a good start, but you never expect so many goals when starting. I am working every day to make that happen."

Mariano has scored eight goals in 11 games so far this season.
