Lyon's Puel concedes defeat to 'stronger' Bayern Munich

Lyon manager Claude Puel has conceded his side came up against a much stronger opponent after losing to Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.

The French club were brushed aside 3-0 by the Germans who booked their place in the final 4-0 on aggregate with Puel refusing to criticise his players, who he thought performed admirably especially after captain Cris was sent off prior to the hour-mark.

"Admittedly, they were stronger," he conceded, according to Goal.com France. "It's a shame we didn't equalize. There were opportunities we had to get back in the game.

"After the expulsion of Cris, things were difficult - they had control and they made us run.

"The score is heavy compared to the what the players put in. I don't have much I can criticize the players for. But we've got the flavor of unfinished business."
