Olympique Lyon could have signed Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo for next-to-NOTHING, it has been revealed. The then Sporting Lisbon coach Laszlo Boloni wanted to sign Tony Vairelles from Lyon in a swap for two players, including Ronaldo.
"Sporting de Portugal had no money and therefore proposed an exchange with two players, one of them a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, but Olympique refused ...," revealed Boloni.
Ronaldo was soon after signing for Manchester United and the rest is history.
