Olympique Lyon have slapped a €20 million price-tag on Alexandre Lacazette.
The Evening Chronicle says while Mike Ashley has surprised most fans this summer by at last spending money on six new signings, with more set to come, that asking price may be too much for the club's owner.
Lacazette has long been on the radar of Newcastle and Liverpool.
But the Anfield side have ended their interest as, ironically, they now believe Loic Remy will become their player after QPR agreed a £8.5m bid.
