Olympique Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas has confirmed plans to sign for Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz.

Aulas admits they are seeking to buy the young attacker.

He told L'Equipe: "A loan for Mariano? No. It's a transfer. Both solutions were studied, but we are moving towards a transfer. We have been following him for some time.

"We have good returns on the part of Karim (Benzema, his teammate at Real Madrid). We also have good allies in place with Florentino Perez that I know well and that I still had on the phone last night, and the almighty coach of Real (Zinedine Zidane), who gives us good reviews.

"If we have the means to do so, he is a priority for the OL."
