Olympique Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has warned Tottenham off striker Fred.

"I have had a meeting with Fred to speak to him about his future at the club," said Aulas on Orange Sports TV. "I really hope to be able to make him stay.

"With Karim Benzema now being injured and absent for the next two or three matches, we know that if we want a seventh title we will be going with Fred as our centre-forward."

Fred's contract at Lyon expires in the summer of 2009.
